The Manchester Trauma and Sexual Violence Network is proud to launch ‘When They Tell You’, a new guide designed to support professionals who receive disclosures of sexual harm from adults.

'When They Tell You' has been developed with the direct input of 86 survivors and 71 professaionals to help ensure that responses to disclosures are trauma-responsive, benefiting both the person sharing their experience and the professional receiving it.

Why This Guide Matters

Disclosing experiences of sexual harm can be an incredibly difficult and vulnerable step for survivors. The response they receive can have a significant impact on their wellbeing, recovery, and willingness to seek further support. Recognising this, the members of the Network developed ‘When They Tell You’ to equip professionals with practical tools, language, and guidance to navigate these conversations with confidence and compassion.
